The Caring Community Sponsor Program
(Serving the Northern Hilltown Area)
 |
Remember the days when neighbor helped neighbor? When doors were
always unlocked, and no one was afraid to ask a community member
for help? For some very fortunate people, those days are still here
but, for many, they seem to have vanished.
Highland
Valley Elder Services, under the Federal Older Americans Act,
has awarded The Sunderland Center for Positive Change a
grant to assist in the 'bringing back' of neighbor-to-neighbor care,
through its Caring Community Sponsor program. Soon, in a hairdresser
near you (or library, senior center, lawer's/doctor's office, house
of worship, town hall, hardware store, etc...) you will notice a
brochure describing our program and an insert for you to complete,
requesting assistance in a variety of areas. Our Caring Community
Coordinator will also make her presence known throughout this next
year to work with you in making this program a success in your community.

NEEDS: Any elder, family member, or caregiver in the towns
listed below** is eligible to become involved in this program. Simply
tell us your need (from carpentry to errands; from and eye exam to
legal advice), and our job is to locate for you a match with a community
member who offers this service.
OFFERS: Anyone in the community who is willing to offer a
service to an elder, family member, or caregiver which will make life
easier for the elder living in the community (Nursing home or Assisted
Living Facility, included). |
| |
 |
| Individuals offering their services may request a dollar amount
for their service, although we will work hard to promote low-fee
or volunteer services in most cases. Confidential requests for
donations to this invaluable program are tax-deductible, NOT REQUIRED,
and used to continue the program well into the future. |
